For me there is no greater solace than to lose myself for hours in wind, and pungent scrub, and salt air, painting. For the past twenty years I have painted plein-aire landscapes in pastel around the central coast of California. I am drawn into a landscape by the light of a particular time of day. However, color changes dramatically within moments, forms predominate and then recede as shadows shift. I love chasing what is fleeting in this process.
